Masks have meant so much to civilization over time; these are just the latest.

Lo unico que importa es el viaje interior y la oprtunidad de viajar y ver lo que esta lejos de nuesro alcance, si el miedo a contagiarse es mas fuerte que todo, entonces nada llenará lo que ellos buscan

You say so much with so little. Well done.

Definitely tense. Did you tell them through the door because you were already over them? Showing them the results voluntarily may have mitigated the tension? Besides all the political kerfuffle, the one thing masking accomplished in April/May 2020 was to slow down the number of cases hitting hospitals in large urban areas. With an overburdened and overwhelmed medical staff, the importance of this slowdown cannot be overestimated. In places like where I live and where you grew up, where there aren't enough people for trends like that to make much of a difference, there was plenty of demonstrative flouting of the masking in public places recommendation. People were fired from their jobs for refusal to comply. Eventually yes, herd immunity is the default. But it's all about the timing.
